Large Greenhouse

Like a true New Yorker, this greenhouse is as
adaptable to the swelting summers as it is to the
frigid winters. Roll-up sides that allow breezes to
blow through and two heaters make this 30' x 50'
greenhouse a year-round attraction. It also has
plenty of movable chairs, tables and benches for
  holding large meetings and activities.
 Small Greenhouse

In this smaller, hard-plastic covered greenhouse
you'll find tropical plants and people growing
together. Students propogate and sell these plants
to help raise money for the garden.
This greenhouse, outfitted with a heater, can
accommodate chairs and benches, allowing it to seat
up to 30 persons. Indeed, it's a popular place for
  holding meetings.
 Grass Field

Possibly the greenest lawn in the Lower East Side,
the grass field is home to sporting events, parties,
and cultural activities. But it's also a great place to
just relax and enjoy the sun.
 Pond

Here you'll find turtles, dragonflies, fish, and kids
with fishing nets. The garden is sloped to channel
rain water into the pond, which has a waterfall that
  oxygenates the water.
 Waterfall

The waterfall circulates and oxygenates the pond
water while serving as a bird bath for resourceful
sparrows. It was built by students and adults from
East Side High School and the community.
 Planters

A variety of herbs, fruit trees and vegetables have
found a home in these planter beds.
There is no charge for using the planters. Please
  contact us for available spaces.
 Restroom

Anxious visitors are relieved to see the port-a-
potty at our garden. Teachers and parents are
equally thankful -- now they can bring kids to the
  garden without an added worry.

 Solar Panels

These sun worshippers power a fan in the small
greenhouse and a pump for the waterfall. The
design and construction of the solar systems were
completed by East Side High School teachers and
students. We're looking to install more solar panels
at the park. Please contact us if you're interested
  in this project.
 Basketball

Basketballs meet hoops on the playground at the
Park, which has a regulation court and three side
  baskets.
 Volleyball

The grass field and playground are grounds for
volleyball games and practice sessions. Movable
volleyball nets make these multi-purpose areas
ideal for a variety of activities.

 Play Equipment

Sometimes, kids -- and their clothes -- need a break
from digging in soil and rolling on grass. This small
playground has swings and children's play
  equipment.
 Sandbox

One of the few sandboxes in the Lower East Side,
it's well received by toddlers and parents. Come by
and see what all the giggling is about.
